Ann Miller - Papers
by Lynne Turner and Georgeanne
This is Lynne's paper:
"I AM INCLUDING THE HISTORY OF JOHN HOPWOOD BLEAZZARD FOR
THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
My Great Grandmother is Sarah Ann Marsh. Although our geneology
states that her father was James Henry Marsh, there are obvious
reasons to doubt it.
1. JOHN HOPWOOD BLEAZZARD MARRIED MY GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER
SARAH SEARCY MILLER ON MARCH 30, 1846. SARAH HAD TWO CHILDREN BY A PREVIOUS
MARRIAGE WHO WERE MARY JANE MILLER AND MARTHA ANN MILLER.
A - JOHN HOPWOOD BLEAZZARD MARRIED MY GREAT GREAT AUNT MARY
JANE MILLER ON MARCH 1848.
NUMEROUS CHILDREN WERE BORN DUE TO THESE TWO MARRIAGES, THE
LAST BEING 1857.
B - MARTHA ANN MILLER, MY GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER MARRIED JAMES
HENRY MARSH IN 1850.
MARTHA ANN MILLER MARRIED ISAAC HILL AUGUST 28, 1851.
C - MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER SARAH ANN MARSH (?) WAS BORN 18 APRIL
1852, EIGHT MONTHS AFTER MARTHA ANN MILLER MARRIED ISAAC HILL.
D - JOHN HOPWOOD BLEAZZARD WAS A MACHO MAN.
E - ON HER DEATHBED, MARTHA ANN MILLER CALLED HER DAUGHTER SARAH
ANN MARSH TO HER AND TOLD HER THAT JOHN HOPWOOD BLEAZZARD WAS
HER FATHER, NOT JAMES HENRY MARSH. (SEE ENCLOSED LETTER)
Sarah Ann married my Great Grandfather, William Henry Harrison
Heap, and lived with him in Zions Canyon. (See enclosed history).
They were also among the first five couples to move to Star
Valley Wyoming and are noted in history books as the first settlers
of that state.
OTHER HUSBANDS OF MARTHA ANN MILLER:
JAMES P. BROWN, married Nov. 15, 1858
JOHN SOCIAL ROLPH, married 1868
Erlene (Lynne) Slater Turner, Great Granddaughter of Sarah Ann
Note: Sarah Ann Marsh (Bleazard) married William Henry Harrison
This is the 'enclosed letter' that Lynne refers to in her paper:
Aunt Sarah Heap was the daughter of Martha Ann Miller. Thomas
Blazzard was the last child of John and Sarah Searcy Bleazard.

My name is Georgeanne Blazzard Jennings. My father's name is Thomas
Blazzard. His father's name is John Hopwood Blazzard (Bleazard).
Grandfather Blazzard married my Grandmother, Sarah Searcy Miller,
in Nauvoo or Winter Quarters. Our father always told us they were
married in Winter Quarters. My Grandmother had two daughters,
Mary and Martha, and two sons, Jake & Sam Miller, when she
married Grandfather Blazzard.
Our father told us many times that Grandfather Blazzard had both
of these girls sealed to him.
Back in 1918, after I was married & had my first child, we
were living on a farm just north of the town of Overton, Nevada.
In the Spring, about April as I recall, Aunt Sarah Heap &
her son, Ira, came to visit us on their way to California.
At this time my mother & father were living on a farm about
5 (five) miles southeast of St. George, Utah. My youngest brother
& sister were living in St. George attending high school.
Aunt Sarah & Ira stopped and visited with my mother and father
and also visited with my brother & sister. They told Aunt
Sarah & Ira how & where they could find me in Overton,
They came to Overton and visited with me & my husband for
several days, then went on to California and visited with us again
on their return from California.
While visiting there with us, she told me this story about herself.
She told me that while her mother (Martha Ann Miller --)was on
her death bed, she called me (Sarah) in to her and told me that
I was John Hopwood Blazzard's daughter and not Sarah Marsh as
I had always thot I was. So she says more that makes me your father's
half sister. So she was Aunt Sarah to us all after that. She didn't
tell this story to any of my folks in St. George. When I came
home sometime later I told my father and family about it and they
were surprised but believed what she had told me.
We all believe what she told me to be the truth, for I had no
way in the world to know it other than that she told it to me.
I'm very sure it is true.
